KADUNA POLICE FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT, RECOVER ARMS
Kaduna State Police Command says it has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Makarfi Local Government Area, arresting one suspect and recovering two locally made firearms, ammunition and charms. The suspect, 20-year-old Usman Alhaji Dahiru, was arrested after sustaining injuries during a gun battle between police, vigilantes and the attackers.
Police also arrested another suspect, Jude Magaji, in Gwantu for allegedly intimidating residents with a locally fabricated pistol. Separately, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested two suspected arms traffickers, Rayyanu Adamu and Nasiru Abubakar, following intelligence-led surveillance around Giwa and the railway station axis.
The police say 300 rounds of live ammunition, 270 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 30 rounds of Type 06 ammunition were recovered from the suspected traffickers. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, while police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and persons allegedly connected to the arms-trafficking network.
